I'm writing this on my last night in New Zealand!.
Its been a great last week on the ol long white cloud, but i cant wait to jump ship for a while. You wouldn't believe just how prepared i am for this trip (famous last words there), i cant think of one thing that i forgot...although that's pretty much the definition of forgetting something, oh well.
Maybe i will write i list of what i'm taking so you can all copy because lest face it, we all know months of half assed research has been put into it and there's not one bit of wasted space in that little 38l back pack.
I picked up my passport today from the Chinese consulate with no real trouble other than a long boring line. DO NOT do what i did and apply for it 5 days before you leave the country since it takes 4 days for them to pick it up and stick the visa sticker into your passport. Last week when i finally looked into what they actually wanted before they gave me a visa i realised i had no arrival flight, departure flight, itinerary, booked accommodation or any concrete dates which was a BIG no no. Took me until around 4am to finally pick and book all that stuff!.
It was tough picking those flights, my Scrooge McDuck side made me look at every single flight from every single Japanese airport to every single Chinese airport until i found the absolute cheapest ones. The flights were so cheap in fact that i'm going to have to leave my phones GPS on juuuust in case the plane runs out of fuel or something.
Since that was the only thing i needed to do today, the rest was devoted to creating electronic copies of all my documents, flights, insurance etc which are now on my laptop, phone and dropbox account which are all linked so that they all update automatically whenever something changes (too much free time). Works really well though, and i'd say anyone who's traveling or has OCD do the same.
No real plans tomorrow other than playing with my sisters puppy and maybe force a few cat naps. Have fun at work everyone while i do that.
